Balanced Worlds is looking for a top-notch Lead 3D Environment Artist to spearhead their 3D production team and produce jaw dropping assets. Work with the Art Director to visually communicate the Creative Directors ultimate vision, and push the art quality to its limits.
Assist the Art Director in creating a comprehensive plan that communicates production pipeline, processes, techniques, requirements, and potential risks and solutions
Responsible for the daily operations of the 3D production team and verify that assets are completed on time and meet technical requirements
Mentor 3D artists to improve production techniques
Verify that assets are produced efficient, and with game performance and gameplay in mind
Maintenance and development of the art pipeline tools (shaders and lighting)
Understanding of the projects artistic style and direction set by the Art Director
Contribute in asset and key asset creation to set the visual bar
Supervise lighting and placement of props
Must speak English and Chinese Mandarin
Shipped at least two titles or have at least 3 years experience as a senior environment artist or technical artist
Strong understanding of design principals, architecture, spatial layout and composition, color theory, and lighting
Must demonstrate a strong technical art background and expertise
Ability to integrate the creative and technical level building processes while maintaining high quality production values
Ability to track and manage art resources to prevent redundant development
Ensures that completed art assets are signed-off by the Art Director
Assist the Art Director in monitoring the consistency of art style
Advanced skills in 3D modeling, UV setup, texturing of environments and props
Knowledge with next generation mapping techniques such as normal maps, ambient occlusion, parallax mapping, shaders, and lighting
Experience with using Maya and MEL scripts, and Adobe Photoshop
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to take direction well
A love for playing videogames and good instincts for game design
Experience developing art assets for video games
Present a variety of props with UV and texture setup
Provide samples of level screenshots with wireframe in textured and un-textured states
Provide examples of prior art tech docs and solutions
Include some works of traditional art - architecture, figure drawing, or still life
