New issue of 3D Artist magazine out now!
By Lynette-3DA on Jun 29, 2010 04:06 PM
Featured on the cover is just one character from an entire portfolio of masterpieces by Olivier Ponsonnet, well known in the 3D community for his timeless portraits. 3D Artist finds out more about the artist behind the pixels in our feature interview, showcasing his work over full-colour spreads!

We go behind the movie scenes to take a look at how the CGI for Robin Hood and Prince of Persia were handled by MPC and Prime Focus, and investigate all the best freebies the 3D world has for those looking to tackle 3D on a budget. From Google SketchUp, to Blender and all that’s in-between, we look at what can be achieved with the best free 3D resources around.

Our gallery showcases the latest talents in the 3D community, with special ‘I made this’ spreads that give us all an insight into the production of selected artworks. With all this inspiration, you’ll want to make your own – and wouldn’t you know: we’ve got a bunch of tutorials for that, too! Get stuck in as artists take you through texturing a post-apocalyptic car, making materials for slick architecture, the creation of a flourishing oriental garden, and the concluding part of our Spitfire tutorial series. With something for everyone, we have our regular Back to basics, Q&A and Masterclass. Every issue covers a variety of software, including 3ds Max, Blender, Maya, modo, Cinema 4D, Poser, LightWave and Vue. To make sure you never miss an issue, subscribe – and save cash! – online today: https://imagine.subscribeonline.co.uk/all-titles/3d-artist?offer=WEB100

Looking for what’s hot? We review Photoshop CS5 and Vue 8.5, and on the disc you can grab your very own full copy of Carrara 7 Pro… for free!!

As always, feedback is welcome and will help the magazine grow. Email me anytime at lynette.clee@imagine-publishing.co.uk with your thoughts and what you’d like to see from us in future!
