Heatwave / distortion / Shimmer
By groover on May 31, 2001 01:00 PM
Hey,
I'm trying to add a distortion above the exhaust tubes as if a lot of heat was coming out.... any ideas? I've tried: A Cylinder wth noise added, falloff transparancy, & raytraced refraction Oh - this is in Max4 :) Re: Heatwave / distortion / Shimmer

I heard this same queston b4 i actually think there's a tutorial over at 3dcafe.com.
I would animate a clothmesh doing a wave effect with almost transparent glass refraction material.(and opacity map for the edges) -Gav Re: Heatwave / distortion / Shimmer

When you say a clothmesh, what do you mean? Like just a grid bound to a ripple, or some kind of plugin?
I'll check out 3d Cafe too Thanx!! Re: Heatwave / distortion / Shimmer
