Livonia, MI, July 28, 2006 — The Southeast Michigan Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH (SEMAFX) is bringing some of Michigan's creative talent on a luxury 47 passenger coach to Boston to attend the 2006 ACM SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics Convention. A launch party is scheduled for Friday July 28th 2-5pm at the parking lot of Schoolcraft College's VistaTech Center with a departure set at 5pm.

The Great American Roadtrip starts in Michigan and ends up in Boston for seven days to take in the SIGGRAPH 2006 Conference before returning to Michigan. SIGGRAPH 2006 is the 33rd International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques. The Conference is being held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, MA. SIGGRAPH 2006 is expected to have over 20,000 attendees and over 250 exhibitors with numerous classes, panels and displays of technology, art, and animation. By bringing some of Michigan's considerable digital arts talent SEMAFX is furthering it mission to educate and network the workforce, and increase awareness of the capabilities of Michigan's digital creative industry.

Michigan's economy has a little secret and that is a creative industry is growing and expanding. We will be using a vinyl graphics wrapped bus as a marketing tool to attract the attention of conference attendees and the people of Boston for a week to tout Michigan as a cool creative place with a talented and growing workforce and industry . The creative industry is not limited but includes the following creative services film & video editing, advertising, motion graphics & animation, medical visualizations, web development & design, architectural visualizations, simulations, mobile gaming, product design & rendering, photo retouching, and graphic design & Illustration.
