Colored layer and texture?

Hi i need some help with layers. :)

I know i can colorize layers by making the objects "by layer" so they get colored but...
Is it possible to have colered layers in viewport combined with texture, and turn it on/off?? (kinda like layer freeze and hide) For example a blueish toned texture instead of normal texture.

Or is the only way to see colour layers:.... disabled textures / wireframe?
