How can I reduce the size of my avi file produced with maya?

Hi!
I hope you'll help me... So, I made an avi file with maya and its size is huge! So big that when I open it with media player or other player, it plays too staccato. What can I do? Can I make it much compressed with maya or I need another program to compres the avi after? Thank's a lot By Mikademius on Mar 30, 2005 12:17 PM
What have you rendered? A playblast or final render. If you render a final render you should not render AVI at all. You should render a tga sequence or iff sequence (depending on z-depth etc.) Then you have the rawfiles ready for compositing. You can just import the tga sequence into your favourite videoediting package and then export the sequence in *.avi or*. mov format. From here you can compress the videofile so it won't be so huge. DivX, sorensen or whatever suits you.
