digital clock LED lights
By linus3d on May 12, 2003 05:04 AM
Does anyone have any idea in how to model a digital LED clock? I want to model a bomb timer, but am curious how to approach this problem of making a timer display. Is it a surfacing issue? Someone help me out here please... ???
I'm a LightWave user so any lw-specific comments would be appreciated... Re: digital clock LED lights

I did a model of a digital clock once. It used this LED setup. If I am correct I used 3 seperate flat planes within the display. One (the first layer) was set with a surface with no diffuse, spec, reflect. I did this to kill all reflective light. Than the second layer was set up with luminosity at 100%. Set this layer to the color you want the LED display. The last layer was done to resemble clear glass covering the screen. So just apply a good glass or clear plastic surface setup and you will be ready to go :)
Also there is a tutorial that shows how to do this in the book: Lightwave Applied version 6.5 & 7.0. Hope this helps you. If you run into any problems feel free to contact me at aronk12@aol.com
