Please help me.

I am trying to create and import spaceship models for a game I have but modeling ships has been more complicated than I expected.  I am usuing truespace so im not sure how much anybody here could help, but I would appreciate it if you could.  Not only do I not understand parts of the program, but I can't think of any ideas of what to make my ships look like.  I know you can't help me on that, that is up for me to do, but does anybody know of some detailed tutorials for a newbie to get some ideas on making and importing objects into a game?
