import & export 3D files...

Can anyone suggest a way for me to import a file from Bryce 5 or Poser 4 into Maya 3.5.1 on Mac?
Thank you in advance. I have tried exporting a file from Poser 4 through obj. option but Maya said that the file is incomplete and won't be able to view after importing it, though I already have the option to import file as obj.
Please help?
