How to change the camera's environment color in renderman...?
When changed in maya's camera attribute editor nothing happends , the background color is still black...
And I do type the camera's shape node name in the globals window...

its a rendering program, and yeah u can use it with maya.  It specialises in rendering NURBS.  Ive never used it properly, but it has some nifty tools so ive heard...i knew people who used it at university.  Pixar used it in films like toy story as far as i know

Renderman is , in my opinion, by now the best renderer there is on the market...I mean PRMan is...
It's very fast , very reliable, works exellent in network or dual machines, renders geometry like no other renderer and ....hey everything is very good when you say RenderMan...

Renderman is a rendering engine.
It is divided into 2 specific langueges:
The RIB language, which is basicly scene's descripition language and the Shading language for descriving materials...so called shaders.
Its very known in the world of visual effects and from my point of view its one of the top render engines right now. It can be pluged into maya, of course, by tools like MTOR, slim etc..which are very nicely integrated within maya.
I'd like to make a little correction to the post of mr.
Paul Davies, nurbs surfaces do not get rendered.
all nurbs surfaces get tesselated (converted into polygons when rendered).

Anyway check the www.pixar.com website for more info.

Cheers,
Moor

And this goes for mr. Danilovic Slobodan.
I use a special self-written camera shader, that connects to the maya camera view.
You should check if there are any cam-shaders or something alike in the shader dir, attach it to the camera and see if it works.
Hope this helps.
