<P>line serves as strong reply to Josh Sitton's comments</P>
<P>The Lions sacked Matt Flynn seven times, collapsing the pocket all game. On the ground, Green Bay mustered a pathetic 1.6 yards per carry. There were no theatrics this Thanksgiving no leg stomps, no kicks to the groin, no illegal hits. Instead, Suh, Nick Fairley, Ziggy Ansah and the entire Lions defense simply dominated.Sitton stood by his comments. In an age of backtracking and image patrol, it was refreshing to be sure."I said what I said," Sitton said. "I'm not taking it back."But that doesn't change the fact the Packers were embarrassed specifically the offensive line by these same players."Yeah, it's embarrassing," Sitton said. "We got our ass beat. Plain and simple. They smacked us today. There's no doubt about it."Left to right, everyone was at fault in this one. The line was a game long sieve. On one third and 8, rookie David Bakhtiari was bench pressed by Ansah into Flynn. Another play, Louis Delmas blitzed free for a sack. Defensive end Devin Taylor whipped Don Barclay for a sack fumble. Without Evan Dietrich Smith (knee) much of the game, the reshuffled line broke down. The Packers shifted Lang to center and plugged the embattled Marshall Newhouse in at guard.Head up on Suh. It didn't go well.In the third quarter, Suh beat Newhouse inside (and Lang) to sack Flynn for a safety in approximately 1.9 seconds. The pressure was unrelenting. The Lions finished with seven sacks and nine total quarterback hits on Flynn's 27 total dropbacks. Players say Detroit effectively mixed stunts with blitzes and when push came to shove they flat out lost one on one battles. Newhouse was eventually benched for rookie Lane Taylor.Inside the visitors' locker room, Newhouse was the Donte Moncrief Womens Jersey last player to take off his pads. He sat alone in his locker officialcoltsnflauthentic.com/authentic-jonathan-newsome-jersey.html with a towel draped over his head for 5, 10 minutes. Newhouse briefly walked to the bathroom, returned, then finally changed. The Lions didn't do much talking during the game. Newhouse didn't do much afterward. His matchup with Suh? "Just didn't play well enough," he said. Where does the offensive line go from here? A long pause, then "Keep working." And how would he assess his game? "Not good enough."No trash talking. No scuffles. In a role reversal, the Lions' front hit Green Bay where it hurts the scoreboard.Sitton tried to make the distinction. As the guard pointed out, he never said these were bad players."They play good up front," Sitton said. "No one ever said they're not a good front. We know that. I think they're probably the best inside front in the league. But like I said, I don't take anything I said back."A couple teammates in the Packers locker room admitted that maybe Sitton's comments did light a fire under the Lions. They're not sure. Suh said he wasn't motivated by the "scumbags" remark."People have opinions about me," Suh said. "We just go out there and play. Contingency plans have deteriorated. A candid Lang put part of the blame on himself. Through the short week, he devoted practically all of his time to his matchup with Suh.The player demands that much 24/7 preparation. As Lang said, Suh "plays hard, he plays aggressive every single play. Center. In a repeat of Green Bay's loss against Philadelphia, Lang became the point man again."It's just a tough situation," Lang said. "There are some plays in there we had some leakage in the middle. I don't think that when I was at center I did a good enough job of communicating to everybody what the assignments were. I'll take the responsibility for that."Obviously with the big matchup against Suh, I didn't prepare a whole lot to play center. But that's my fault. Obviously being the backup I know that if anything happens, I have to slide over. I had a couple plays out there that just weren't good enough."Added Barclay, "We just have to look ourselves in the mirror and get back and dig deep and we better win these last games out and some things have to happen."One reason the Packers are on the brink is the offensive line. "Scumbags" or not, the Lions' front four had the last laugh. An offensive line dead set on changing the team's identity, on shedding that "finesse" label, was embarrassed by a division foe.The result was one of Green Bay's worst offensive games ever.At least by Lang's estimation."We have to take a long, hard look at what we're doing," Lang said. "Obviously on offense we didn't have any production today. Probably the worst (expletive) offensive game in the history of the (expletive) Packers. It was just bad."</P>
