Shadows
By exanju on Sep 12, 2001 10:18 AM
Hello,
I work with MAX and for some time have some problems with shadows. For an example... If I put a cube on the gound and make the shadowmap shadows, then the shadows will bi all blurry, and if I make them raytraced, then they'll be all sharp from the begining to the end... Is it posible to make them sharp at the start (where the cube colides with floor) and to fade away when they're farther from the object? Thanx... Re: Shadows

What you want are soft spotlights- you need a free plugin by Peter Watje for that.

why don't use a hand-made soft spotlight!?
array about 16 spot or omni in a cubic or square form (or circular), point them (if they are spots)to center of the cube...play with shadowmap parameters...you got it! don't forget to use range or decay.this will help
