Can Ted Thompson bring Merriman to GB

(You'll need to have an account, but I'll give you the important info.)

According to Rumor Central, the San Diego Chargers have an interesting conundrum ahead of them this offseason: To bring back or cut both LaDainian Tomlinson and Shawne Merriman. Merriman's the name I'd like to focus on for right now.

Depending on the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Merriman will likely become either a restricted or unrestricted free agent this offseason. He's going to want more money from the Chargers than they'll likely want to pay, giving Merriman the option to find work elsewhere. That's where Ted Thompson comes in.

The article mentions the Packers as one of the teams that could show interest should (when) Aaron Kampman enter free agency and find a new team. Merriman was an elite 34 rushing linebacker before a knee injury put his career into a bit of a funk over the last couple years. Remember when the team tried to rush him back, then he missed the whole season? Yeah, that's a bit of a funk.

The big question is whether or not Thompson could pull the trigger on a player like Merriman. star Tila Tequila. He's had locker room troubles and even larger problems with management. So why would Thompson chinawholesalejerseys.us.com want to even try to gain the services of that type of player?

Merriman, when healthy, is still one of the best pass rushing linebackers in the NFL. If the Chargers cut him loose, which I have a feeling they will, no one's going to want to pay him as much as Merriman thinks he's worth. If the Packers can dig into their pockets more than other teams, Merriman will be looking to show the rest of the league what they passed on.

What do you think Thompson will do?
