LightWave to Max and Bck! What a Trip! Help!
By Baby_Face on Jun 18, 2002 01:27 AM
Hi,
Im now using lightwave for a project at work. There isnt much time to get the project done and i have 3DSMax at home, not Lightwave. Does anybody know of a reliable converter or whatever i need to 'move' files between the two, ie work on an object/scene at work on lightwave and then take it home and work on it in max?? A converter for Max 3 or 4 and lightwave 6. If anyone could save me time and effort (cos i dont have any time) lookin for one, when i dont know what it is im looking for exactly, that would be cool 8) Thnx :) Re: LightWave to Max and Bck! try deep eploration www.righthemisphere.com
its also a good tool for browse and preview your objects and scenes for modelling you can use the *.3ds-format. it works on both, lightwave and 3ds max. but it doesn´t work with texture- or animation informations. if you use deep-exploration, be carefully with uv-textures and procedural maps. I think they will be lost on the exchange-way good luck uRe: LightWave to Max and Bck! What a Trip! Help!

Polytrans is also very good for this purpose.

don't use any programs ! save your files as FBX ( get the plugin fromthe lightwave site ) import FBX file into 3dsmax that's all
