Wood hits the heights with Mizuno MP-69 irons

After missing out on a third appearance in the PGA Championship, Mizuno staffer Chris Wood made the decision to expand his competitive experience with a trip to Thailand.

And it paid instant dividends for the 24-year-old from Bristol, who ended several years of heartache to record his maiden professional win at the Thailand Open on the OneAsia Tour. Sporting a full bag of Mizuno bats including the MP-650 driver, Mizuno MP-69 Irons or Mizuno MP-68 Irons , MP T-11 wedges and Titlest Pro V1 Ball, Wood held his nerve to win by two shots with a stunning 23-under total.

This mp 69 iron is the perfect balance of Grain Flow Forged feel and unmatched workability. They feature the newly developed 4D muscle design. A strategic weighting strategy from 3-Iron through PW ensures ideal COG (Center Of Gravity) placement in every iron throughout the set to deliver total ball control and a predictable trajectory.

The design goal of the discount golf clubs--MP-63 was to retain the iconic head profile (head size, top line, offset, sole width), which Mizuno is know for and also prolific on the world's professional tours, and make an improvement in feel and versatility. Through the use of Modal Analysis, Mizuno studied vibration simulations of the head and experimented with several methods of affecting the sound and feel at impact.

With three runners-up spots on the European Tour in the last 19 months, Mizuno always knew their tallest staff player was ready to hit the heights. Chris is such a talent and arguably the hardest working player we’ve seen on the Mizuno workshop,” said Mizuno’s tour operations manager Andy Kikidas.

He’s still very young and needed the experience of closing out an event. He’s such a great ball striker and driver of the ball and he’s certain to be in contention many more times – and far more likely to win with this experience in the bank.
