The wood isn't bad, iot just looksd like something off Toys. The orb is good, maybe a little bigger would be better to have a little more focus on it and not on all the wood haha =P But good none the less!

Yeah, the wood is junk, bad junk, the orb extraordinarily beautiful. Try making it glow, or have some sort of cloudy and dusty light torus around it, making it look more mystical.

I don't think this image deserved the harsh comments people are leaving. I think it's a good start, just work on it a little more. Watch the glare and shading for the glass.
