Good point Mighty Mouse ! The pointed roofs in fact don't have a technical purpose.
Let's say the elfs just find that pretty. And it could have an effect on how the houses withstand strong winds. ( well, maybe...;- ) By the way, I did not know Rodney Mathews when I designed "Rivendell" , but I am certainly inspired a lot by Roger Dean.
