Thanks for the reply guys ! :)
Hey Map and others. About the "My Bolt" image... It's not pretending to look real or look as a photo. This was just a Shading Study i did to challenge myself doing or trying to do a "realistic like picture" image only using 3dsmax 5 and Scanline Render and NO, bitmap textures. So, i pushed my shader skills to archieve something like this using just procedural materials and default scanline lights. At the end, i like the result, mainly because i've learned a LOT on the process, but the image don't even have a touch in photoshop, it's pure raw 3d. Sure i could work a lot more to do it more real, but (Map), i agree with you. I don't like to just replicate reality, it's much more easy to take a picture, you are totally right man ! :) Thanks for all the Comments anyway. :)
By the way...Man. Looking at that skull image today i remember that it's not bad at the time i've submited it too here, but now i just can save the candle the rest of the scene looks pretty dull. lol. (raph ! Take off that (my skull) image from here...lol) |

| Oh and, besides my critique below your work is brilliantly done, the metal is outstanding and I wish I lived in Brazil, in the heat instead of in the cold of my country. I should mention that all I can do is complain because its 5 in the morning and I need my bed!!! |

Why not just take a photograph and save yourself some time! ok, ok its a great test of skill with a study like that but in the end...what a hardship. I've always liked the easy way better, I value speed and efficiency (and laziness). I always see 3d software as a route to expanding and releasing your imagination and yes, they are great for making images ultra realistic (which I like) but take that image and expand on it. Animate the screws in some unrealistic fashion, exaggerate, expand, warp, morph etc. Use the infinite tunnels of your imagination and create brilliance just not a still photo.
Oh oh! I'd better run along now I hear all the artists who are nicey-nicey but hippocritical pretencious bastards coming for me!!! |

| The cross of the screw doesn't look real. Insides are too sharp and parallel. They should angle inward from all sides not straight in. |
